After School & Summer Day Camp



Days: Monday through Friday, year round.

Time: 2pm – 5:30pm during the school year and 8am – 5pm during the summer months.

Programming provided include:

  • individualized tutoring
  • computer lab
  • prevention/life skills development
  • a daily meal and snacks
  • exercise
  • community recreational activities
  • additional supportive services and transportation to and from the program

The Salvation Army Kilburn Community Center provides children with easy access to academic and supportive services. Individualized tutoring is provided by program staff in seven different languages, including English, Spanish, Lao, Thai, Japanese, Karen, and Burmese. Topics such as self esteem, anger management, substance abuse, violence/conflict management, hygiene, and communication skills are taught in the prevention/life skills programming. Community recreational activities, such Magic Waters trips and tours through Anderson Gardens, are provided free of charge to the students during the summer. Additional supportive services are provided as needed. The year round program is located at 210 North Kilburn Avenue in Rockford, Illinois and focuses on empowering youth to develop basic life skills, character development, self sufficiency, appropriate social interactions, and academic excellence.
